8:00-8:30 Networking

8:30-9:30 NewsBank with Matt Stawicki

This year SLS purchased America’s Historical Newspapers for the middle and high schools. Matt will talk with us about how we might use these resources with our students and teachers. He will also introduce us to some resources that could be used in the elementary schools. Additional resources for America's Historical Newspapers are also available through Google Docs.

9:30-10:30 Technology Update

Catie Cahill and Rene Lawrence will show us some tech resources that school librarians can use in their schools. Additional information can be found Google Docs.

10:30-10:45 Break

10:45-11:45 Breakout EDU Boxes the School Library with Victoria Calarco

Breakout Boxes are an emerging trend in school libraries. Victoria will describe what these are and how these work in the classroom. She will also discuss her experiences with them at Owasco Elementary as we try to break into them.

11:45-12:00 Library Resource Management System

One of the big SLS initiatives over the summer was setting up a system to organize and make available all the information related to the library media resources purchased by our schools. This system will provide us with contact information for our school librarians, access information about the library resources purchased by their schools, and contact information for the school librarians. This system will also be used to compile the requested resources for 2018-2019.

12:00-12:30 Lunch

12:30-1:30 FactCite with Susan Gall

New this year for the Elementary Schools, SLS purchased several new databases from FactCite: Biography for Beginners, Mythology, American History, and Science. Learn all about these resources and how you might use them with your students and teachers. Susan will also introduce us to resources for middle and high schools.
